WKARS took part in the HF SSB Field Day over the weekend of 5th/6th September, using our new equipment: the Hiperpod mast from Total Mast Solutions, and Gala Tents gazebo. We’re grateful to Richard G8CDD for allowing us to operate from Matfield.

Shown below are Phil G3MGQ (operating) and Andrew M0JQT (logging) in the green gazebo with our Yaesu FTDX10. Outside the gazebo, Mike M0RYK is operating with magnetic loop, Richard is entering the gazebo, and the mast with antenna, guys and feeder.

We didn’t operate for the full 24 hours of the contest, and had odd problems with the transceiver not matching or providing any output to the antenna, requiring a reset. However the weather was excellent, and the weekend was very enjoyable for all who took part.

Thanks to all members who helped with organising, assembly, operating and takedown.
